The Kavli Summer Institute in Cognitive Neuroscience is dedicated to achieving excellence through diversity. This includes diversity inherent in the identity of the applicant (e.g., women, underrepresented minorities, people with disabilities, and those from economically, socially, and/or educationally disadvantaged backgrounds), as well as individuals whose work or efforts promote diversity. It is our position that a diverse, accepting environment promotes understanding, fosters scientific progress, and supports a multiplicity of innovative ideas. As such, members of underrepresented groups and those with demonstrated commitments to diversity are especially encouraged to apply. In addition, assistance (such as sign language translation) will be made available for all scientists with disabilities who are selected as fellows of the Summer Institute.
Additional Application Information: Applications are open to currently enrolled graduate and professional students, postdoctoral scientists, medical residents, or the equivalent. Applications will also be accepted from faculty members and research scientists whose primary area of expertise may be broadened by the topics of the Summer Institute; however, first preference is given to trainees.
Diversity: Applications from members of underrepresented groups and those with disabilities are encouraged. Applications are open both to U.S. citizens and to non-U.S. citizens.
Please be ready to provide: (i) Name, affiliation and contact information; (ii) curriculum vitae; (iii) statement of why/how this year's SI is critical to your career development; and (iv) one to three letters of recommendation.
Applicants will be selected based on their academic record and the relevance of the Summer Institute to their research goals and career development.
